Jainism got originated in Karnataka more than 2000 years. Jains divided in to two sects such as Swethambara and Digambaras after Mahavira, the 24th Theerthankara. Karnataka is a seat of Digambara sect of Jainism since time immemorable. The rulers of this region provided immense support and encouragement for the growth of Jainism in Karnataka from 4th to 14th century A.D. They were highly charitable and generous in donating and encouraging the Jain temples, religious heads and Jain organisations. As a result many Jain Basadis got established in Karnataka. These Basadis was built in these areas were highly picturesque and beautiful.
